Environmental Benefits
The completion of the second power block at Astoria Energy will result in immediate positive improvements in air quality by displacing generation from older, less efficient, and dirtier power plants. The second power block has been estimated to decrease NOx emissions by 515 tons, a 7.6% reduction and decreasing SOx emissions by 1,483 tons, a 16.8% reduction simultaneously improving air quality and system reliability.
